Sifu John Liao

Sifu Liao's journey in martial arts commenced at age 6, spanning various disciplines before he immersed himself in the study of Wing Chun. Since 2001, he has been sharing his expertise, focusing on self-defence and instilling the wisdom of Wing Chun in his students. With over 15 years of experience in investigation, surveillance as private investigator. Sifu Liao brings a wealth of knowledge to his teachings, ensuring the safety and well-being of his students.

As the founder of Black Dragon Wing-Chun Inc. Sifu Liao has meticulously refined the curriculum over the pas two decades. He's philosophy emphasizes the ultimate goal of Wing Chun: acquiring inner peace rather than resorting to violence. Through his leadership and teachings, he inspires students to excel in martial arts and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world.

I wasn't new to the martial art world. I have a background in Tae Kwon Do and had some basic experience with another Wing Chun school. What I was looking for was a more comprehensive and progressive martial art that I could do until I was in my older years.

Wing Chun and specifically, Shifu Liao's progressive Wing Chun teaching, creates a dynamic approach to the basic biomechanics (human movement) that the body goes through to achieve efficiency of movement. With the close quarter combat and criminal code compliant methods that Shifu Liao teaches, any student can be sure they will not be using excessive force, but most certainly effective force to stop any opponents.

There is no other martial arts instructor that I have met that can teach you by layer in his abilities so well, as to let you shine and improve your form. In this way, you can truly learn as a practitioner of the art. There is no instructor that has the passion as Shifu John.

Sifu Alex Martinez

Sifu Alexis is a devoted Martial Artist who has been practicing Wing Chun Kung Fu for more than 15 years. Alexis began his Martial Arts training in his native country Cuba; during that period of time he was taught by his first Sifu, Rolando Fernadez who introduced him into the fascinating world of Kung Fu.

A few years later he moved to Canada and continued his Martial Arts journey improving himself as a practitioner and training under Sifu John Liao from Black Dragon Wing Chun and became a Sifu teaching in this School for about 4 years, currently he has his now school sharing his passion for Kung Fu with his students Based on his experience, Sifu Alexis encourages his students to apply the Wing Chun fighting concepts in their daily training, reaching high levels of control and efficiency, with proper training anybody can achieve greatness in Martial Arts and become a better person, this has been Alexis motivation since day one of his journey.

I started Wing Chun in 2015 and joined Black Dragon during the summer of 2016. It's an honour to become a Black Dragon Wing Chun Instructor team as I am already an instructor at Toronto Pearson International Airport for CATSA Screening. Wing Chun has helped me throughout my career. This art teaches me to become more patient and calm.

In the beginning, I got into martial arts because my health wasn't in the best condition. Wing Chun has saved my life and created who I am today, which friends and family members appreciate more. People respect me not because I am an instructor but because of my personality. Wing Chun has changed my life for the better, not just in health but in various relationship such as friendships, family, and colleagues.

Wing Chun is now part of my life, and I will work hard to share my knowledge with others who strive for a better life as well.
